The caption circuit only displays the blue backgrounded captions and outputs audio signals without real picture displaying. The circuit comprises: a caption decoder (1) for detecting the screen signal (SR) and the character signal (CHA) from inputted video signal; a switching part (2) to synthesize the caption decoder outputs with the previously inputted video signal; a SYNC detector (3); an on-screen display unit (4) consists of a character generator and a blue screen generator.
