<p>A scanning Fabry-Perot spectrometer for spectrally scanning a light source, including first and second discs (2, 4), transparent to source radiation, with constantly parallel planar facing surfaces which are highly reflective to radiation from the source; motors (24, 26, 28) for moving the first disc relative to the second around the neutral position of said first disc; and controllers (54, 70, 72) for said motors. The motors are of the solenoid type and can operate at temperatures ranging from that of liquid helium to room temperature, and in a vacuum. Said spectrometer is suitable for use in astrophysics.</p> |
