A welding electrode or a rigid make-and-break switch contact consists of a copper alloy containing 1-10 per cent of cadmium with or without 0,1-5 per cent of one or more of the metals silver, gold, magnesium, aluminium, tin, and beryllium. Such an alloy may be incorporated in a refractory metal such as tungsten, molybdenum, or tantalum with which it does not alloy in order to provide a compound element to withstand heavy stresses. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also alloys of cadmium with any one or more of the metals copper, silver, and gold, and refers also to the addition to the alloys of p tungsten, molybdenum, and tantalum. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. |
