A gas turbine engine comprising a gearbox, the gearbox comprising a sun gear, an annulus gear, a plurality of planet gears and a planet gear carrier, each planet gear being rotatably mounted in the planet gear carrier by at least one planet gear bearing, the sun gear meshing with the planet gears and the planet gears meshing with the annulus gear, a lubrication system arranged to supply lubricant to the planet gear bearings and one or more of the sun gear, the annulus gear and the planet gears, the planet gear carrier comprising an annular extension, the lubrication system comprising an annular member arranged coaxially around and spaced from the annular extension to define an annular chamber, the annular member being sealed at its ends to the planet gear carrier, the annular chamber having a volume selected to form a reservoir of lubricant, the annular member having at least one inlet aperture to supply lubricant into the annular chamber, the planet carrier having at least one first passage to supply lubricant to one or more of the sun gear, the annulus gear and the planet gears and at least one second passage to supply lubricant to the planet gear bearings. |
