In the present invention, information indicating the contents or trends of many messages can be provided without the need of pre-defining the parts that vary among the messages. A message analysis apparatus 1 is provided with a clustering unit 11, a field analysis unit 12, and a pattern generation unit 13. The clustering unit 11 classifies a message group, which is a collection of messages comprising one or more fields, into clusters on the basis of similarities among the messages. The field analysis unit 12 identifies, for each of the fields constituting the message group in a cluster, a variable part in which the value thereof varies and an invariable part in which the value thereof does not vary. The pattern generation unit 13 generates a message pattern common to the messages in the cluster on the basis of the variable part and the invariable part.
