PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To duplicate and store positional information for positioning of data.SOLUTION: A library controller 101 of a tape library device 100 reads information of a CM in a tape cartridge TC by using a CM reader/writer 105 of a robot part 102 at a time, for example, of loading the tape cartridge TC, and stores the information in a nonvolatile memory 110. The information for the positioning of the data by a tape drive device TD is thereby duplicated and stored in the nonvolatile memory 110. For example, in a case when it is not possible to read the information of the CM due to breakdown of the CM reader/writer of the tape drive device TD, the information stored in the nonvolatile memory 110 is transferred from the library controller 101 to the tape drive device TD. In that case, the tape drive device TD utilizes the information transferred from the library controller 101 to perform high-speed positioning of the data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
