FLUOROPOLYMER WITH IMPROVED TRANSPARENCY

Aqueous fluoropolymer dispersion comprising a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) copolymer containing up to 1% by weight of at least one copolymer ("modifier") selected from perfluorinated alkyl vinyl ether (PAVE) and perfluorinated alkyl allyl ether (PAAE) wherein the alkyl chains may be interrupted once or more than once by oxygen atoms, wherein the PTFE polymer has an MFI (372/5) of less than 0.3 g/ 10 min wherein the polytetrafluoroethylene copolymer has a haze value of at least 61% and wherein the dispersion further comprises from greater than 0 and up to 5.000 ppm of a fluorinated surfactant selected from a linear or branched perfluorinated or partially fluorinated alkanoic acids wherein the alkyl residue is interrupted once or more than once by an oxygen atom. Further provided are a method of making the fluoropolymers, a method of coating substrates with the fluoropolymers and coated substrates.
