<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a useful method for manufacturing a powder method Nb<SB>3</SB>Sn superconducting wire material capable of improving generation reaction efficiency of Nb<SB>3</SB>Sn even in a relatively low practical temperature range around 600-750°C, and of exerting excellent superconductivity characteristic; and to provide a precursor therefor. <P>SOLUTION: This precursor is a precursor of a powder method Nb<SB>3</SB>Sn superconducting wire material for which material powder containing at least Sn is filled in a sheath containing at least Nb, and a superconductive layer is formed on an interfacial surface between the sheath and the powder by subjecting it to diameter-reducing work to form it into a wire material and thereafter heat-treating it. The material powder contains a Cu constituent, and the sheath is formed by combining Nb or a Nb-based alloy part with Cu or a Cu-based alloy part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
