Provided is a power conversion device mounted with a function for detecting a step-out of a rotating machine which contains permanent magnets, and also provided is a device (for example, a rotating machine drive device, a refrigeration device, etc.) using the power conversion device. The power conversion device is equipped with a control device for determining, on the basis of a signal detected by a magnetic pole position sensor attached to any one of the phases of a motor, whether or not the motor is in a step-out state. Further, the power conversion device is characterized in that the control device determines, on the basis of whether or not the signal detected by the magnetic pole position sensor satisfies a predetermined condition within a preset predetermined time, whether or not the motor is in the step-out state. |
