PURPOSE: To provide a magnesia/carbonaceous refractory excellent in oxidation resistance, spalling resistance and corrosion resistance and having high strength. CONSTITUTION: In the magnesia/carbonaceous refractory composed of magnesia, carbon or graphite and a metallic powder, the magnesia raw material previously coated with a part or the whole of carbon or graphite is used. Then, since active effect to suppress the reaction of the metallic powder with magnesia is produced by using the magnesia raw material previously coated with carbon or graphite, the intrinsic effect of magnesia is sufficiently exhibited and contributes to the improvement of corrosion resistance, spalling resistance and durability. And the intrinsic effect, 'oxidation resistant effect of carbon (graphite) of the constituent', is sufficiently exhibited with the combination of smaller quantity of the metallic powder than the conventional. |
