In the present invention, there is disclosed a longitudinal guide (1) for vehicle seats, particularly for motor vehicle seats, including two elongate rails, each including a lower rail (4), an upper rail (2) being supported on the lower rail (4) and displaceable in a longitudinal direction, and two bearing areas (3, 5) for guiding means (7, 8), the bearing areas lying diagonally opposite to and biased against each other. Each upper rail and lower rail (2, 4) having an L-shaped region, if viewed in profile, formed by a base leg (20, 40) and an L-leg (21, 41) protruding from the base leg (20, 40) substantially perpendicularly, and two end regions (23, 28; 52, 48) adjoining the L-shaped region. Each end region of the upper or lower rail (2, 4) together with the end region of the associated lower or upper rail (2, 4) forming an embracing area by mutually hooking, the end regions (23, 28) of the upper rail (2) forming the bearing areas (3, 5) with opposite portions (50, 44) of the associated lower rail (4), and a plurality of balls (7) being supported in the first bearing area (3) on the end region (28). According to this invention, there are proposed measures, on the base of which it is possible to reduce significantly the weight and width, particularly in the rail profile lower area. Further, there are proposed embodiments for an arrestment device of a corresponding device for longitudinal setting. |
