The moving track has a drive chain on both sides of a pallet belt and a chain tensioner with operating compression spring and additional return spring. The two springs (28,46) are clamped whereby the spring characteristic line of the additional spring (46) is steeper than that of the compression spring (28). The operating path of the compression spring is restricted by a stop which acts on the additional spring. The operating path of the compression spring corresponds to the movement of the carriage (12) as a result of the polygonal effect during deflection of the pallets.
