An aerogel that is a the product of drying a wet gel that is a condensate of a sol that contains at least one type of compound selected from the group that consists of: polysiloxane compounds that have a hydrolyzable functional group or a condensable functional group and that have an average molecular weight of 300-1500 g/mol; and hydrolysis products of the polysiloxane compounds that have a hydrolyzable functional group.
