Powered wheel assemblies and methods of manufacturing and operating such assemblies are provided. The wheel assembly compirses one or more hub plates, one or more rollers rotatably mounted to the one or more hub plates, one or more guide mechanisms, one or more motors powering at least one of the one or more rollers, wherein at least one of the one or more rollers is able to rotatably couple a rim, the axis of rotation of at least one of the rollers not substantially coinciding with the axis of rotation of the rim, wherein the one or more motors are laterally aligned with the one or more rollers, and one or more alignment arms that can be attached to a vehicle. |
