<p>PURPOSE:To chemically and efficiently separate and recover zinc from the ferroscrap contg. a galvanized steel material with a low consumption of energy. CONSTITUTION:The ferroscrap contg. a galvanized steel material is treated with an aq. soln. contg. ammonia and ammonium salts (e.g. (NH4)2CO3 or (NH4)2SO4) in the presence of oxygen to convert zinc in the scrap into an ammine-zinc complex which is dissolved, and the scrap is separated from the aq. soln. The obtained aq. soln. is heated to liberate ammonia and the precipitated zinc salt (ZnCO3) is recovered, or the aq. soln. contg. a dissolved zinc salt (ZnSO4) is electrolyzed to deposit metallic zinc on the cathode and the metallic zinc is recovered.</p> |
