The present invention relates to the field of construction materials. In particular, it relates to the development of a lightweight concrete made with lightweight organic aggregates, particles of maize waste that has been chemically treated to be used as filling in construction panels, and to the production method thereof. This lightweight concrete, which is made using particles of maize waste treated with aluminium sulphate and sodium silicate, can be a material used preferably for the production of panels filled with lightweight concrete having improved thermal characteristics and mechanical properties, particularly in relation to density and compressive strength in comparison with traditional concrete, in addition to the properties of concrete docility.
