[Class 44] [See also Group XVIII] A pressure cooker or like container 10 is provided with a shouldered rim 10<1> having perforations 13 at spaced intervals, and axial grooves 14 each associated with a perforation. The cover 20 is a hollow casting with a seating surface 21, and is provided with radial locking pins 24 co-operating with the perforations 13. The cover carries a pin 30 threaded at 31 to receive a thimble 35 which supports a pair of bells 37, 39 extending under and over the pins 24 respectively. This structure is movable axially by rotating a hand wheel 42. When the pins 24 are in their upper position, their ends may be brought into registry with the perforations 13 by a downward movement in grooves 14 followed by rotation of the cover through a small angle. If the wheel 42 is then rotated, the pins are projected through the perforations 13, while at the same time their ends fulcrum upon the upper edges of the perforations so that they press the cover to its seat. On a reverse movement of the wheel 42, the pins are withdrawn, their ends fulcrum upon the lower edges of the perforations, and the cover is positively lifted when the pins bear against the surfaces 201.</p> |
