A master controller 1 for an electric vehicle is driven by a pneumatic pilot motor 4 which is regulated by electro-magnetically operated valves 5, 6. To start the controller, a main switch 16 is closed to energize valve 5 through resistor 7 and cam-operated contacts E, 11, F, on the controller. The controller moves to its second position in which the contacts E, 11, F, are opened, but the circuit to the valve 5 is maintained through contacts A, 9, B, on the controller. If the switch 16 remains closed, the valve 6 is energized through resistor 8 and contacts H, 12, G, and the pneumatic motor thus turns the master controller to its third position wherein the contacts H, G are bridged by the contacts C, 10, D which take over their function. In the third position of the master controller, the valve 5 is shortcircuited by contacts L, 14, M so that the pneumatic motor receives a further impulse for turning it to the next position. In its fourth position, the controller short-circuits the valve 6 by means of contacts K, 13, J, whereupon the controller is placed by the action of the pneumatic motor into its fifth position. If, during movement of the master controller, a relay 17 opens its contacts, the pneumatic motor is stopped. Reverse movement of the master controller is effected by actuating a changeover switch 15 to its alternative position. When the vehicle consists of a number of separate units, the pneumatic motor in one unit is regulated through contacts on the controller in another unit so that all the controllers throughout the train are regulated from a single position, Fig. 2 (not shown). |
