An optical image data acquisition and position determination device for detecting an optical image providing optical image data of a patient positioning device comprising a plurality of partial segments that may be positioned relative to each other and for determining a position of at least two partial segments of the patient positioning device based on the image data, the device comprising:
an optical image data input receiving optical image data of the patient positioning device; an interface for outputting information on the position of the at least two partial segments; and a determination device configured to determine the position of at least two partial segments of the patient positioning device based on the image data, and configured to determine two-dimensional partial image data from at least three-dimensional partial image data of the patient positioning device and to determine a position of the at least two partial segments of the patient positioning device based on the two-dimensional partial image data.
