460,475. Thermionic electrodes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. (Patent- Treuhand - Ges. fur Elektrische Gl³hlampen) Jan. 27, 1936, No. 2537. [Class 39 (i)] Electrodes adapted to be heated by the discharge are made of fine wire and are conical in shape ; the body is filled with thermionically emitting material, either by impregnating the wire before making the conical body or after it is formed. In one form it is a tangled mass of tungsten wire, in another gauze is wound round a rod to form the cone, in a third wire 4 is wound about a rod ; in a fourth modification straight wires are laid about a central rod. The electrode is particularly suitable for use in high-pressure metal vapour discharge devices. |
