340,458. Indirectly heated steam boilers. DEUTSCHE WERFT AKT.-GES., 889, Postfach, Hamburg, Germany. April 9, 1930, No. 11312. Convention date, Feb. 14. [Class 123 (ii).] Water-tube boilers heated by internal-combustion engine exhaust comprise vertical Field tubes h surrounded by a spark arrester b which has guide plates d with apertures e leading to a collecting space f for the carbon particles. The exhaust gases enter the boiler part through an aperture g and leave through an aperture o, the outlet p leading through a funnel q to the atmosphere constituting a silencer. The Field tubes project at different heights in the water space m so that by adjustment of water level the amount of steam generated is regulated. The outer tubes are streamlined and have plugs at their lower ends to enable solid deposit to be removed.
