Fusion protein having factor IX activity

Disclosed is a fusion protein comprising blood coagulation factor IX (FIX) and transferrin. The fusion protein exhibits improved specific FIX activity, as compared to native FIX, and can be useful in the treatment of FIX deficiency-associated diseases.

wherein the fusion protein comprises a linker between the FIX and the transferrin, said linker being the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 9 or 11; wherein the FIX amino acid sequence has 95% or higher identity to the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1; and wherein the transferrin amino acid sequence has 95% or higher identity to the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2.
