providing at least one 1,3-dipole-functional platinum(IV) compound; contacting the at least one 1,3-dipole functional platinum(IV) compound with at least one cyclic alkyne; and allowing the at least one 1,3-dipole-functional platinum(IV) compound and the at least one cyclic alkyne to react under conditions effective for a cycloaddition reaction to form the heterocyclic compound. |
