345,246. Supporting and mounting bearings. SKF - NORMA GES., 60, Mohrenstrasse, Berlin. Dec. 18, 1929, No. 38774. Convention date, March 13. [Class 12 (i).] A bearing mounting for rolls particularly the guiding rolls of paper machines, which are such that one end of the roll may be lifted for replacing the felt, comprises a housing, capable of transverse pivotal movement, to which is fixed the outer bearing race and also a non-rotatable shaft extending down the centre of the roll. The forces involved in raising the roll are thereby taken by the central shaft and not by the bearing. A housing 10 is spherically mounted in a fixed support 11 and is pinned to a non-rotatable central shaft 12. The roll-neck 15 carries the inner race of a self-aligning roller bearing fixed thereon by a taper sleeve and nut. Closure is effected by a flange 21 and gland-washer 22. To allow for movement due to bending of the rolls and variations in temperature the spherical housing at the opposite end is carried in a cylindrical support, or where both supports are spherical one housing may be loosely mounted on the shaft. |
