The invention relates to a method for operating an integrated power plant with formic acid, comprising several steps. First, formic acid is produced catalytically from a solid fuel at low temperatures in a first reactor. Subsequently, the formic acid is decomposed to a mixture of hydrogen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and/or water in a second and/or third reactor. This gas mixture is guided as fuel gas into a gas turbine, into an internal combustion engine or a fuel cell to generate current. The invention further relates to an integrated power plant for operation with formic acid.
