摘要 This light emitting device is provided with: a semiconductor substrate (20) having a surface (21); a plurality of light emitting units (30-32) which emit light of different colors; and an optical waveguide unit (40) which has a plurality of optical waveguides (41-43) that are arranged on the surface of the semiconductor substrate so as to correspond to the plurality of light emitting units, and which introduces the light from one end portions (48-50) of the plurality of optical waveguides. The optical waveguide unit has a light output unit (44) which outputs synthesized light by synthesizing the light guided to the other end portions (51-53) of the plurality of optical waveguides. According to this light emitting device, the occurrence of optical axis shift or beam diameter mismatch is able to be suppressed since it is not necessary to align the optical axes of the light emitting units. Consequently, decrease in the image quality of images displayed on a screen (130) is able to be suppressed.
