IMPROVED TOURNIQUET RELEASE DEVICE AND TOURNIQUET INCORPORATING THE SAME

A tourniquet and a tourniquet release device for releasing a tourniquet strap from the limb of a patient is disclosed. The device includes a body having first and second parts for retaining first and second portions of the strap. The body is movable between a two conditions, in the first condition the portion of said tourniquet strap is prevented from disengaging from said body, and a second condition achieved after a period of time, in which the first portion of the tourniquet strap is able to disengage from the body.
