Defect assessment includes assessing a defect severity using extracted analytic calls from an analytic engine generated by a set of recorded steps for an application. Customer usage of the application is monitored to generate usage statistics over a time period from the analytic engine including a usage factor and a bounce rate factor. An ongoing severity level from a mixture of the usage factor and the bounce rate factor is calculated.
