An electrolysis plant for making aluminium using the Hall-Herouit process comprises a top cover including a slab body comprising adjacent flaps 70 movably connected to said slab body where the flaps 70 can be opened and closed and when in the open position define a passage P towards the inner volume of the intercalary space H between two adjacent cells C1, C2. The arrangement is such that it forms a working surface for the walk of an operator and allows the operator access to the intercalary space H to possibly cut a cell reversibly out of its pot line using a wedge W.
