Controlling a home appliance 5 depending on a determined user position P1, P2, P3. The method comprising: determining a position of a users smartphone 10; judging from the positional information whether the determined position is within or outside a predefined home zone 1 surrounding the home appliance; generating a control signal dependant on whether the determined position is judged to be within or outside the home zone; transmitting the control signal to a control device 7 configured to control the home appliance; judging from the positional information whether the determined position is within a predefined problematic zone 3 which is outside the home zone; and reclassifying the determined position P3 depending on at least whether or not the determined position is judged to be within the problematic zone. The judging steps may be performed by the smartphone itself, wherein the smartphone transmits the resulting control signal, or by a remote server (not shown) which receives the positional information from the smartphone and generates and sends the control signal. The position determination may be based on cell ID. The problematic zone may be predefined to avoid false jumps (i.e. detecting changed cell towers when the mobile device hasnt actually physically moved). |
