A method for controlling a car with a parallel hybrid system comprising at least a cobustion engine 10 and an electrical machine 20 in P0- or P1-configuration with clutch for connecting the combustion engine's output shaft with at least one drive shaft (40, 50) comprising the steps of determining a power demand P d , decoupling the combustion engine 10 from the drive shaft 40, 50 if the power demand P d is below a first threshold P 1 and coupling the combustion engine 10 with the drive shaft 40, 50 if the power demand P d is above the first threshold P 1 provides additional fuel savings if the method further comprises shutting off the combustion engine 10 and providing power to the drive shaft 40, 50 by providing electrical power to the electrical machine 20 to drive the car, if the power demand P d is between said first threshold P 1 and a second threshold P 2 , wherein said second threshold P 2 is greater than the first threshold P 1 , i.e. if P 1 <P d <P 2 . |
