Abstract A method for verifying a learner driver trip as part of obtaining a driver's license. The method includes capturing an image of an odometer of a vehicle to be used by the learner driver, processing and storing the image, tracking movement of the vehicle with the GNSS receiver of a mobile communications device to create an electronic record of a driving trip of the learner driver, and validating the driving trip record with at least one of a digital signature or pass code of a supervisor.
