providing or using an invert emulsion drilling fluid including:
an oleaginous continuous phase;a nonoleaginous discontinuous phase;mixed metal layered hydroxides comprising hydroxide ions associated with at least two metal cations, wherein one is a divalent cation and another is a trivalent cation; andbentonite, wherein the drilling fluid is substantially free of organophilic clays; and drilling the subterranean formation with the drilling fluid. |
