Provided is a fuel cell that can discharge impurities by appropriately determining the timing for the discharge of exhaust gas from a power generating unit, and that can also suppress reductions in power generation efficiency and use hydrogen without waste. Also provided are a fuel cell control method and a computer program. A fuel cell (100) comprising: a stack (1) that reacts hydrogen and oxygen to generate power; a hydrogen cylinder (2) that stores hydrogen to be supplied to the stack (1); a control unit (9) that causes exhaust gas from the stack (1) to be circulated back to the stack (1) via a hydrogen circulation path (13) or that causes the gas to be discharged to the outside; and a storage unit (91) that stores impurity information regarding the hydrogen stored in the hydrogen cylinder (2). A CPU (90) of the control unit (9) causes the gas to be discharged to the outside on the basis of the impurity information stored in the storage unit (91). |
