This trash storing device (1) stores trash. The trash storing device (1) is provided with a drum (3) and a measuring unit (5). Trash is introduced into the drum (3), and the drum (3) rotates. The measuring unit (5) refers to the tare weight including the drum (3) to measure the weight of the trash in the drum (3). After the trash has been discharged from the drum (3), the measuring unit (5) measures the tare weight before trash is introduced into the drum (3). Preferably, the trash storing device (1) is additionally provided with a trigger unit (9). The trigger unit (9) outputs a trigger signal indicating that trash has been discharged from the drum (3). The measuring unit (5) measures the tare weight in response to the trigger signal.
