Provided are a signal processing apparatus and an endoscope system such that the configuration of the entire endoscope system is simplified while appropriately processed images can be output even when signal processing apparatuses are running different versions. A first processor 3 according to the present invention is a processor which has, detachably mounted thereto, a first scope 2A having an imaging element 21A and is also communicatively connected to a second processor 4 to which a second scope 2B having an imaging element 21B is mounted, and the first processor 3 processes an imaging signal from the imaging element 21A or the imaging element 21B. The first processor 3 includes a control unit 34 which controls the processing inside the first processor 3 according to communication with the second processor 4.
