摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for calculating output of a water turbine power generator by taking into consideration a water surface action specific to an open channel having free surface and provide a method for installing the water turbine power generator.SOLUTION: A water turbine power generator 10 in accordance with the preferred embodiment is the water turbine power generator 10 installed at an open channel 1 and comprises a runner 12 rotated by flowing water at the open channel 1 and a power generator 13 for generating power through rotation of the runner 12. When the method for calculating an output of this water turbine power generator 10 is carried out, at first a water level incrementation &Dgr;h at the open channel 1 caused by installation of the water turbine power generator 10 is calculated. In this case, a drag coefficient of a projection shape of the water turbine is applied and the water level incrementation &Dgr;h is calculated. After this calculation, an output P of the water turbine power generator 10 is calculated on the basis of the water level incrementation &Dgr;h.
