A photovoltaic device comprising: a three-dimensional multi-layered photovoltaic cell assembly in the form of a panel including at least: a top surface,a bottom surface, anda peripheral edge extending between and connecting the top surface to the bottom surface, the peripheral edge including a length and a width;further including a barrier layer comprising a rigid material that is transparent or translucent; a body portion comprising: filled or unfilled moldable plastic material,a main body portion,a first frame portion, anda second frame portion extending from an opposite side of the main body portion as the first frame portion and an empty region located between the first frame portion and the second from portion; andwherein the body portion is at least partially surrounding a portion of the top surface and the peripheral edge of the three-dimensional multi-layered photovoltaic cell assembly, and the main body portion has a bottom peripheral edge extending between and connecting the first frame portion and the second frame portion; a relieving feature disposed in the main body portion that is a localized thinning of the main body portion, the localized thinning of the main body portion extending along the bottom peripheral edge of the main body portion and being located outside of the peripheral edge of the three-dimensional multi-layered photovoltaic cell assembly so that the relieving feature allows elastic deformation of the photovoltaic device over a temperature range, wherein the localized thinning has a depth of at least 50 percent that of a depth of the three-dimensional multi-layered photovoltaic cell assembly, and wherein the localized thinning of the main body portion is a channel; and at least one electrical connector assembly with a connector housing, the connector housing having an outer surface having a housing top surface, a housing bottom surface, and a housing peripheral edge connecting the housing top surface and the housing bottom surface, and the at least one connector housing is located between a portion of the relieving feature and the bottom peripheral edge of the main body portion.
