METHOD FOR REDUNDANCY OF A VLR DATABASE OF A VIRTUALIZED MSC

The application relates to network entities of a mobile telephony network such as a HLR or VLR, which keeps subscriber information such as IMSIs in a database and has to prevent a loss of this information caused by faults or maintenance activities. In particular when virtualization technologies are used, the mean time to failure is shorter than when conventional technologies are used. Therefore, the system architecture needs to be adapted to compensate the increased risk of outages. This problem is solved by a triple redundancy architecture where the database (112) is backed up by a first database (113) which itself is backed up by a second database (131) which stores the data in a backup file (120) of non-volatile storage such as a storage area network (121).
