To enable free customization of an attached function implementing communications with the host controller, while concealing details of an electric motor control function of a drive device that communicates with the host controller to control the drive of the electric motor. A control program of the drive device for controlling the drive of the electric motor is divided into a first program that implements the electric motor control function and causes the control unit to function as a core unit, and a second program that implements the attached function and causes the control unit to function as a customization unit. A command value of a physical quantity designating an operating state of the electric motor is provided from the host controller to the customization unit. The customization unit normalizes this command value in use of a predetermined reference value and provides the resultant value to the core unit. |
