A foldable wall mounted seat comprises a platform member 121 and is movable between a substantially horizontal, deployed position and a substantially vertical, stowed position. In the stowed position, the platform member is adjacent and substantially parallel to the said wall. The upper surface of the platform member, when in a deployed position, faces away from the said wall when in a stowed position. A support structure comprising two links, or limbs, 131, 127, is pivotally connected to the platform member and is pivotally connectable directly or indirectly to the said wall. The limbs are so formed or so positioned that, in the said stowed position, at least a portion of the said limbs lies in substantially the same plane as one another, parallel to the wall, so as to project a minimum distance out from the wall. The limbs are shaped or profiled at the regions 300, 301 where they meet in the stowed position. The foldable support mechanism may also be applied to shower seats, tables or benches. |
