PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out two-phase excitation drive by making the stopped position of a detent torque and the position in which a rotor during two-phase excitation coincide by adjusting the slot open width of an annular stator.SOLUTION: A stepping motor and a driving method therefor, according to the invention, is configured as described below. In a stepping motor for step driving a rotor (6) by exciting a two-phase excitation coil (3), a state in which the detent torque of the rotor (6) and the position where the rotor (6) during two-phase excitation coincide indicates the state in which the first center position (P) of a slot open (21) and the second center position (P) of the magnet (5) coincide, or the state in which the first center position (P), and the boundary position (P) between the magnets (5) coincide. |
