Embodiments of the present invention provide a method for alarm suppression and an optical network device. The method includes: determining a wavelength of all received signals corresponding to an LOS alarm; and determining whether a wavelength of a fault signal includes the wavelength of all the received signals corresponding to the LOS alarm, and if yes, suppressing the LOS alarm, and if yes, suppressing the LOS alarm. This solves, to a certain extent, the problem where upstream and downstream optical network devices report an LOS alarm regarding the same fault repeatedly.
