PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load driving device which is capable of continuing to safely drive a load when a short circuit occurs in any of one or more light-emitting elements in the load in which the light-emitting elements are connected in series.SOLUTION: A load driving device 1 comprises: a power conversion circuit 2 for supplying DC power to a load 80 in which one or more light-emitting elements 81 are connected in series; an output voltage detection circuit 6 for detecting an output voltage Vo applied to the load 80; an output current detection circuit 5 for detecting an output current Io flowing through the load 80; and a control circuit part 4 for performing constant current control on the basis of the output current Io during an operation period of the load 80. The control circuit part 4 stops supply of the DC power from the power conversion circuit 2 to the load 80 when a short-circuited state of at least one of the light-emitting elements 81 included in the load 80 is detected by the output current detection circuit 5 during the operation time of the load 80, and resumes the supply of the DC power to the load 80 if a drop in the output voltage Vo due to the stop of the supply of the DC power is equal to or greater than a specified value. |
