PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flash discharge lamp lighting device and a flash irradiation device using the same, capable of detecting and predicting reduction in capacity or duration of life of a power storage element with accuracy by a simple configuration.SOLUTION: A flash discharge lamp lighting device 100 comprises: a power storage element 11; a current control circuit 300 supplying an output current to a flash discharge lamp by using the power storage element as a power supply, and performing constant current control of the output current on the basis of a detected current value detected by a current detection circuit 20 detecting the output current; a controller 400 operating the current control circuit by a normal lighting mode and a maintenance lighting mode, and outputting an alarm signal in the case that a current-time product of the output current per one lighting in the maintenance lighting mode is larger than that of the output current per one lighting in the normal lighting mode, and the detected current value becomes less than a prescribed current value in a predetermined time period after lighting start in the maintenance lighting mode; and notification means 500 receiving the alarm signal to give notification of error information. |
