This image diagnostic device generates a color palette image from a gray scale ultrasonic vessel cross-sectional image that is orthogonal to the vessel axis. To this end, since ultrasonic transducers have variations in performance, first, a region where blood is present in the gray scale ultrasonic vessel cross-sectional image is set and an average luminance in the region is calculated. Then, the difference between a pre-set value and the calculated average luminance value is considered as the degree of variability of the ultrasonic transducers that are used, and a threshold value for the color palette is calibrated. |
