[Class 33.] A circular reinforcement for the walls of culverts com - prises two or more segments c of stiff, circularly formed, bar reinforcement, grooves in the wall structure for receiving said segmental bars, stops d in said grooves against which the ends of the segments c can abut and a bar g in the form of a segment of a circle disposed adjacent to and parallel with the main segmental bars c and arranged to overlap the adjacent ends and take up the stresses from one segment of the main bar and transmit them to the adjacent segment of the main bar. The grooves may comprise the interlocking grooves e of segmentally formed rings f or may be formed as at i on the inner periphery of a tubular structure : in the latter case, a brick or other lining h may be provided.
