393,368. Induction pipes. HEARD, W. H., Westcombe, Bideford, Devon. Feb. 10, 1932, No. 3970. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii).] A closed chamber 20 is connected to the induction passage bv a restricted opening 21 which is tangential to the bore of the passage ; more even suction on the carburetter nozzle and turbulence of the mixture is thus produced. As shown, the chamber has a flange 23, by which it is clamped between the carburetter and the induction pipe, but it may be integral with, or provided with a lug which is screwed into, either. A second opening 21, tangential in the reverse direction to the bore, may be provided ; the opening 21 may be elongated and inclined to the axis of the bore. The chamber is semispherical, bulbous, or pear-shaped and may have a spring-loaded or elastic device so that its volume may vary in accordance with the suction of the engine.
