The invention relates to a catheter kit comprising a catheter and a urine bag stored in a package wherein flow is prevented between the catheter and urine bag when stored but enabled when the kit is used.

1. A catheter kit comprising:
a urinary catheter, a urine collecting bag and a container, the urinary catheter having a hydrophilic coating and comprising a tubular element having a proximal end provided with an eyelet sized to allow urine to enter into a lumen of the urinary catheter and a distal end connected to a handle, the urine collecting bag is connected to the handle and communicates with the lumen of the urinary catheter; wherein the container contains a liquid swelling medium in contact with at least the proximal end of the tubular element; wherein the catheter kit further comprises a cover attached to and separable from the container and seized to retain the catheter handle and the urine collecting bag with both of the urine collecting bag and the handle retained inside of the cover and outside of the container; wherein the handle comprises a plug inserted into the lumen of the urinary catheter to prevent flow of liquid between the urinary catheter and the urine collecting bag, and the plug is removable from the lumen of the urinary catheter to allow flow of liquid between the urinary catheter and the urine collecting bag.
