398,117. Making paper &c. bags. COMPAGNIE DE SIGNAUX ET D'ENTREPRISES ELECTRIQUES, 6, Rue Caroline, Paris. March 20, 1933, No. 8429. Convention date, March 19, 1932. [Class 94 (ii).] An extensible mandrel for forming paper &c. bags &c. by stamping, is characterized in that it comprises at its extremity blocks which near the completion of the formation of the bags automatically spread out towards the exterior so as to produce at the bottom of the sides of the bag a powerful flattening of the triangular folds which normally exist towards the bottom of the bag, and at the same time, a slight pressing out of the bag towards the exterior. The mandrels 5, reciprocated by levers engaging the pins 7 form bags in the shaping cells 2 carried by a drum each cell containing also an ejecting piston (not shown). Near the completion of the bag the movable base 12 of the mandrel 5 contacts with the ejecting piston in the cell and is depressed against spring action 19.. A conical portion 20, carried by the rod 14 on which the base 12 is fixed, then operates to force apart two blocks 8, attached to spring blades 10 and hinged at 9 to the mandrel body. The movement of the base 12 is controlled by projecting tongues which slide in grooves 18 in the mandrel body and stops 12B on the base 12 limit the movement of the blocks 8. |
